Peacocks and Orchids Oh My!

We continue with our Summer of Nuggets update with our trip to the Los Angeles Arboretum. If you've ever been you know that they are famous for their wandering peacocks. So we thought Miles and Chloe might be interested in meeting one!

The arboretum also has the most beautiful orchid greenhouse. We strolled the nuggets inside to see what they thought.

Oh and if you are wondering where Miles was on this trip...he was sleeping! Practically all the way through! Apparently Peacocks and Orchids put him to sleep. Better luck next time.

The Summer of Nuggets

Apologies to all of Miles and Chloe's fans for the lack of blog updating...but the nuggets have been so busy this summer having tons of adventures that they haven't had a moment to update their blog! But hopefully now that summer is winding down and fall is (hopefully) quickly approaching, there will be more time to reminisce...so join us in remembering all the fun things we did this summer...

Starting with!...

"100 Days"...
Often times new parents are told to mark their calendars for 100 days from the birth of their babies. This supposedly is a great milestone and known for the challenges of parenthood to become easier from this date on. Well this July 4th coincidentally marked Miles and Chloe's 100 days! And what a great celebration we had! We had all of our wonderful friends and family join us for a great 4th of July picnic. Everyone had loads of fun!

Father's Day 2009

This Father's Day the nuggets spent time with Grandpa Burke and Dad. Of course some sort of BBQ lunch was in order.

Happy 3 Months!

This Friday will mark the 3 month anniversary of the nuggets! We can't believe we've come this far! It seems just like yesterday we were in the hospital getting to know one another.

Since then Miles and Chloe have been growing like weeds! At their doctor's appointment last week Chloe measured 24" long and 11 pounds 12oz. And Miles measured 23.5" long and a whopping 12 pounds 5 oz! Not very surprising by the feeding frenzy that has taken on at the Leon household.

Miles and Chloe did also have some of their 1st shots and did very well despite some initial tears. But thankfully we had Grandma Stephanie along with us to help soothe them.

So what are Miles and Chloe up to now? We are happy to report that the smiling and giggling has finally begun and that the nuggets are no longer "high maintenance pets" as Dad referred to them in the early days, but real little people! Maybe now dad will stop referring to the doctor as the "Vet".

Chloe's favorite things at 3 months: fuzzy blankets, the color pink, spending time on her activity mat, having twin time on the boppy, watching fish in a fish tank, and giggling while playing the mimic game of sticking out her tongue with mom.


Miles favorite things at 3 months: Eating!, cuddling with friends and family, playing on the activity mat, having twin time on the boppy, standing (with assistance), sitting (with assistance), bouncing! and going for walks (I would say romantic strolls on the beach, but we aren't there quite yet).

First Trip to Nature!

Well of course after the successful shopping excursion there was just no stopping the Leon twins. Since the weather outside was the usual perfect spring California day it was decided that Miles and Chloe would make their first debut and a family favorite...Descanso Gardens. Look out squirrels here we come!

And so, it finally was decided that life is not all pooping, feeding, burping and boppy lounging and so Chloe and Miles ventured out on their first official outing. And where would that be, but the very new "Americana" outside mall! or a.k.a baby stroller central!

All went well until Miles had a melt down in front of Tiffany's Jewelry store. Apparently he realized he would have to fork over a horrendous amount of money for some outrageously priced ring to propose to some future wife. Oh well. Sorry Miles...win some and lose some! Better start saving now!

Miles and Chloe First Baths

Miles and Chloe enjoyed their first bath time approximately one week after they came home from the hospital.

Chloe seemed to really enjoy the water and tried to slurp the water every time it splashed near her mouth while Miles was a little apprehensive at first but warmed up quickly after a little help from a new friend...the pacifier.

Getting Comfy in Home Sweet Home...

In the weeks following Chloe and Miles continued to grow more comfortable in their new home surroundings. And of course there were the few dedicated fans that continued to visit:

Going Home

After four days in the hospital. The new Leon family was finally released to go home. Miles and Chloe were still fighting their jaundice issues but were cleared for the time being to go home with Mom and Dad. Everyone was happy to leave the tiny hospital room that we all shared for those first days.
